Massive outrage over rant on a ‘dark skin’ and Mohini yattan dancer in Kerala

Senior Mohini yattam dancer Kalamandalam Sathya bhama made withering remarks about another artist in an interview with a YouTube channel. Her remarks on Thursday created quite a stir, and a lot of people are furious about them.

Massive outrage over rant on a ‘dark skin’ and Mohini yattan dancer in Kerala

Dr. RLV Rama krishnan, a mohini yattam dancer, asserted that Sathya bhama was threatening to sue her if she continued to criticize him.

On the other hand, Sathya bhamarefuted the claims made by Rama krishnan, asserting that she had included everyone in the interview. The plumage of the crow is on his skin. It is necessary to stand with your legs wide apart in order to do this art form correctly. "There is nothing more repulsive than a man who performs in this manner," Sathya bhama stated, referring to men who spread their legs wide during their performance.

"Have you ever witnessed children with dark skin participating in beauty pageants and winning?" inquired the lady. Why is it so vital to you to know this? She said, "If children with dark skin come to us for dance training, we will train them, but we will ask them not to compete in any competitions." Although the assessment process includes an attractiveness column, we generally advise against giving grades to young people based solely on their appearance.

Simultaneously, Rama krishnan stated that Sathya bhama had disparaged individuals with dark skin tones across the board, not simply those belonging to the dalit and scheduled caste communities. She had also insulted me before that. Using the application I had completed, she was able to obtain my phone number. She then called me and made fun of me by asking strange things. I had applied for a program in the tourist section. She was a barrier that I had to get past each time I attempted to continue my education in Kalamandalam. At the time, she was a member of the executive committee of the group. He stated that the two cases he claimed to have filed against her at the time are still ongoing. People who are similar to me face challenges on a daily basis while trying to stay in this line of work. Prejudice and unequal treatment by different institutions and people in society are the root cause of these problems.

Rama krishnan, the brother of late actor Kalabhavan Mani, declared, "I will fight this issue legally on my personal behalf and for my community." In a related development, Rama krishnan allegedly attempted suicide in 2020 when the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy denied his request to perform Mohini yattam at their arts festival. The academy's administrators initially asserted that male performers were incapable of performing Mohini yattam, but in the end, they chose him to win the state gold in the genre.
