In a profound loss to the cinematic world, Sadhu Meher, the acclaimed Odia film director and actor, breathed his last at the age of 84 in his Mumbai residence. The news of his demise elicited condolences from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who expressed his grief on social media. Modi's caption on the post acknowledged Sadhu Meher's significant contributions to both Hindi and Odia cinema, emphasizing the profound impact of his cinematic performances and dedication.

"The death of Shri Sadhu Meher Ji is a significant loss for the film industry and our cultural legacy. "A stalwart in both Hindi and Odia cinema, his cinematic performances and dedication were outstanding," PM Modi wrote. "My sympathies are with his family, coworkers, and many admirers as they grieve this irreplaceable loss. We honor his memory by preserving the great creative legacy he left. "Om Shanti."

Sadhu Meher's film career began in Hindi and eventually expanded to Odia cinema. His significant accomplishments include winning the National Film Award for Best Actor in "Ankur" and obtaining the coveted Padmashree Award in 2017. He was also rewarded with the Odisha Film Award for Outstanding Contribution to Odishan Cinema.
