WHO claimed Gaza's biggest hospital became 'an empty shell with human graves'

The greatest hospital in Gaza was destroyed by the most recent Israeli siege, according to a study released by the World Health Organization on Saturday. All that was left was a "empty shell" and a huge number of dead.

After more than two weeks of military action, Israeli soldiers left the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City on Monday. Israeli soldiers claimed to have engaged in combat with Palestinian militants inside the facility, which was once the largest medical facility on Palestinian territory, during the operation.

After several failed attempts beginning on March 25, the World Health Organization (WHO) delegation was finally granted admission to the hospital on Friday, according to the UNHCR.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the head of the World Health Organization, made the announcement that the group and its allies had obtained access to Al-Shifa on X, formerly known as Twitter. Before the most recent siege transformed it into a shell housing human graves, this hospital served as the foundation of Gaza's healthcare system.

During the operation, he said the party had seen five corpses.

According to the head of the World Health Organization (WHO), most of the hospital complex's structures had been seriously damaged, and the majority of the assets had been destroyed or reduced to ashes.

An engineering team must conduct a comprehensive assessment of the remaining structures to determine their suitability for further use. He stated that it is quite improbable that even a passable degree of competency will be recovered anytime soon.

Tedros expressed disappointment that the World Health Organization (WHO) and other humanitarian organizations had not been able to successfully restore basic services following Israel's first devastating attack on Al-Shifa Hospital last year. As a result, individuals are once more unable to access life-saving medical care.
