West Indies Triumphs in T20I Series as India Faces Defeat with 2-3

On Sunday, in the deciding match of the T20I Series, West Indies beat India by 8 wickets to clinch fifth T20I at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida. India lost the five-match series 2-3.

By achieving this win, West Indies secured their first T20I series victory over India since 2017.

The series was tied at 2-2 and both the teams were looking to get their hands on the trophy, when Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill walked in to kick-off the proceedings. 

India lost their first wicket when Yashasvi Jaiswal was caught by Akeal Hosein for 5(4) due to a miscued shot. Suryakumar Yadav came in next, but Akeal Hosein struck again in his second over, dismissing Shubman Gill for 9(9) with an LBW decision that wasn't reviewed despite the TV replay showing the ball missing the stumps.

Suryakumar Yadav was now accompanied by Tilak Varma on the field. Roston Chase makes a strong comeback in his opening over, breaking the partnership between Varma and Yadav. He delivers a full ball to Varma, who attempts to hit it down the ground, but the ball skids back to the bowler. Chase takes a remarkable diving catch during his follow-through, dismissing Varma for 27(18).

Following Varma's dismissal, Sanju Samson partnered with Suryakumar Yadav. However, in the very next delivery, Shepherd claims a wicket. He bowls a well-placed delivery just outside the off stump, and the ball nicks the edge of Samson's bat before settling into Nicholas Pooran's gloves. Samson departs after scoring 13(9), and skipper Hardik Pandya enters the fray.

Rain arrives as Alzarri Joseph bowls the 16th over. Suryakumar Yadav smashes a full, wide delivery for a six, completing his half-century and taking India to 119/4 (15.2 overs). Rain brings a halt in the proceedings as India reach 121/4 in 15.5 overs. Hardik Pandya is caught deep by Jason Holder off Romario Shepherd, falling for 14(18). Axar Patel steps in.

Jason Holder delivers a full-toss angling towards Suryakumar Yadav, who attempts a shot but misses. The ball strikes Yadav's pads, prompting an LBW appeal from Holder. Following a six, Romario Shepherd bowls a length delivery that crashes into the middle stump, dismissing Arshdeep Singh for 8(4). In the next ball, Shepherd traps Kuldeep Yadav LBW. The hosts' review proves successful once again. India's score: 149/8 (19 overs).

Right after the rain delay, Axar Patel is out. Jason Holder bowls a slow, short, and wide delivery. Axar attempts a cut but mistimes it, and Romario Shepherd catches him at short third-man. Axar scores 13(10). In the last ball, Mukesh Kumar edged the ball, and it narrowly went past Nicholas Pooran's diving attempt for a boundary.

India's innings closed at 165/9 in 20 overs.

Kyle Mayers and Brandon King open the 166-run chase. Arshdeep Singh dismissed Mayers in his first over, caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal for 10(5).

Nicholas Pooran hits two sixes in Hardik Pandya's over, while Brandon King adds a boundary and a six off Arshdeep Singh. Brandon King charges down the ground, hitting a flighted delivery from Yuzvendra Chahal for a six, completing his fifty and a 100-run partnership with Nicholas Pooran for the second wicket. Meanwhile, a lightning interruption occurs. WI: 117/1 (12.3 overs). After a ball change, Brandon King smashes consecutive sixes off Yuzvendra Chahal. 

Part-timer Yashasvi Jaiswal enters to bowl. Yashasvi concedes five runs in five balls, and Shai Hope concludes the chase with style. West Indies win by eight wickets with two overs to spare, taking the series 3-2. Brandon King remains unbeaten on 85(55). WI: 171/2 (18 overs).

Brandon King remained not out at 85 from 55 balls, securing the highest score for West Indies, while Pooran showcased a strong performance with 47 runs off 35 deliveries. West Indies triumphed over India in the fifth match by eight wickets, securing a victory in the five-match T20I series.
