Hanover, NH – A pro-Palestinian protest at Dartmouth College last night resulted in the arrest of 90 people, according to the Hanover Police Department.
Following that, the crowd started setting up tents on Dartmouth Green, a move the campus security had previously restricted. Police reports say security staff of Dartmouth announced several times to protesters to disband but many chose to stay put.
"One person inside the tent was Dartmouth Safety & Security made multiple announcements to the occupants that they must disperse, and they refused," according to the Hanover police news release.
Once the protesting group ignored the warnings from the Hanover Police Department and the New Hampshire State Police, some were arrested for criminal trespass and resisting arrest.
The video clip showed the policemen grabbing the protesters one at a time from the crowd on the green and detailing them with zip ties as the group chanted "Free Palestine" while carrying both flags and banners.
Among the arrested were the Dartmouth students and other non-students who were identified by the police. The New Hampshire Department of Safety said that the state police had been sent to Dartmouth to support local authorities with law enforcement regarding "illegal behavior."
