The transatlantic partners are discussing potential actions to address non-market policies and practices in China's medical devices sector. They plan to collaborate on countering foreign misinformation

A draft statement reveals that Washington and the European Union are planning to collaborate in addressing concerns related to China's non-market practices and coordinate their export controls on semiconductors and other goods. They are expected to pledge joint action during their meeting scheduled for this month.

Top officials from the United States and the European Union will be gathering for the fourth meeting of the EU-U.S. Trade and Technology Council (TTC) in Lulea, Sweden on May 30-31.

This meeting will include high-level representatives such as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and European Commission Vice-President Margrethe Vestager. The TTC is a forum for discussion and cooperation between the two entities on issues related to trade and technology.

The United States and Japan have announced their plan to coordinate on export controls for "sensitive items", including military goods and semiconductors. The statement released by the two countries only mentions China twice and may be subject to revisions before the meeting takes place.

According to recent reports, the European Union has announced plans to review and adjust its approach towards China. Brussels has recognized that China is a partner in some areas, a competitor in economic matters, and a strategic rival in others.

As a result, the EU intends to re-evaluate its China policy and acknowledge the need for coordination with the United States, which has taken a more confrontational stance towards China in recent years.
