The forthcoming Parliament Winter Session, set to transpire from December 4 to December 22, has been disclosed by reliable sources. This session is expected to commence shortly after the vote counts in five states scheduled for December 3. Traditionally, the Winter session typically initiates during the third week of November and wraps up before December 25.

Nevertheless, insiders have hinted that the session might kick off even earlier.

During the upcoming session, three significant bills aiming to replace the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), and the Evidence Act are poised for deliberation. These bills have already garnered the approval of the standing committee on Home. Additionally, Parliament is expected to address a vital bill concerning the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners.

This particular bill was introduced in the Monsoon session but wasn't pushed for approval during a special Parliament session due to opposition protests and concerns raised by former chief election commissioners. It aims to elevate the status of the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners to that of the Cabinet Secretary. Presently, they hold a status equivalent to a Supreme Court judge.

Previously, a five-day special session was convened from September 18 to 22, allowing Parliament to transition to its new building. During this session, significant moments occurred, such as the inaugural session in the new Parliament building and the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill (Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam). Parliament members also engaged in discussions commemorating the 75-year journey of Parliament, tracing back to the Constituent Assembly's first meeting on December 9, 1946.
