Open Firing in Bihar's Muzaffarpur: Businessman and His Bodyguard Killed

On Friday, 22nd July, 2023, two individuals, a businessman and his bodyguard, lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries when miscreants opened fire in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rakesh Kumar Two people have died and three were injured during the firing while the injured were undergoing treatment. The four accused came in two bikes. The SSP also stated that the investigation was at the primary stage and that the reason behind the firing seemed to be a property issue.

Muzaffarpur Superintendent Of Police (SP) Arvind Kumar Singh mentioned that the reason behind the firing was yet to be ascertained. Regarding the individuals involved in the crime, the SP stated that the involvement of two culprits had been confirmed, but there could potentially be a total of four people involved in the incident. The investigation is still underway.

Ashutosh Shahi, a businessman and property dealer in the district, was one of the deceased in the shootout. His personal bodyguard also lost his life in the incident. Among the three injured individuals were his bodyguard cum advocate, Syed Qasim Hasan, known as Dollar, whose condition is reported to be critical. He is currently receiving treatment at Janaki Hospital.

After receiving information about the incident, SSP Rakesh Kumar and SP (City) Arvind Kumar Singh hurried to the scene and initiated an investigation into the matter.

According to the police, Ashutosh was involved in dealing with prime estates. They also revealed that the Shambhu-Mantu gang had previously issued threats to kill him.

In the past, Ashutosh had been nominated in the Bihar assembly elections, but he was unable to contest as his nomination was declared invalid.
