Mizoram Authorities Seize Rs 31 Crore Meth in Champhai; Arrest 2 Suspects

Mizoram Police apprehended two individuals and seized crystal meth worth Rs 31 crore in Champhai district. Acting on a reliable source's tip-off, a joint operation team recovered 10 packets of suspected crystal meth. The arrested individuals, Malsawmzuali and Lalchhandama, face charges under the NDPS Act.

In a significant operation, the Mizoram Police made a notable breakthrough by recovering crystal methamphetamine valued at a staggering Rs 31 crore. This operation took place in the Champhai district, a region known for its susceptibility to drug trafficking activities. The authorities managed to apprehend two individuals believed to be associated with the illicit drug trade. This seizure marks a crucial victory in the ongoing battle against narcotics in the region.

The operation was meticulously planned and executed by a joint team comprising the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Champhai District Executive Force (DEF). Acting on actionable intelligence received from a reliable source, the law enforcement agencies swiftly moved into action. The coordinated efforts of the CID and the DEF culminated in the successful interception of a consignment of crystal methamphetamine.

The seized contraband, amounting to approximately 10.385 kilograms, was concealed in ten packets, indicating a large-scale operation. The estimated street value of the confiscated crystal methamphetamine stands at an astounding Rs 31 crore. This seizure underscores the pervasive nature of the drug trade and the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in combating this menace.

Following the interception, the Mizoram Police wasted no time in apprehending the individuals responsible for the illegal trafficking of narcotics. The arrested suspects have been identified as Malsawmzuali, aged 38, and Lalchhandama, aged 19. Both individuals are now in police custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.

In accordance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, a case has been registered against the arrested individuals at the Zokhawthar Police Station. The authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to ascertain the origin and destination of the seized contraband. This investigation aims to unravel the intricate network of drug trafficking and hold accountable all those involved in perpetrating this illicit trade.
