Pakistan's World Cup dreams crumble as former captain Misbah-ul-Haq reveals his warnings about the inadequate spin department were ignored by the Pakistan Cricket Board and team management. Despite advice from Misbah and others, Pakistan's spinners' poor performance contributed to their downfall in the crucial match against England.

In a disappointing turn of events for Pakistan, their hopes for a World Cup 2023 semifinal spot were shattered by England, resulting in a 93-run defeat. Criticism is mounting against Pakistan Cricket, with former captain Misbah-ul-Haq asserting that crucial advice on the spin department was disregarded by the PCB and team management.

Misbah, a member of the PCB's technical committee, asserted that his and Mohammad Hafeez's counsel regarding a necessary reevaluation of the spin department prior to the tournament went unheeded. Expressing deep-seated concerns about the subpar performance of spinners Shadab Khan, who secured only two wickets in six World Cup games, and Mohammad Nawaz, the former skipper, underscored the urgency of bolstering the spin arsenal.

During discussions with PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf, Misbah had unequivocally recommended the inclusion of another spinner, emphasizing that persisting issues with Shadab and Nawaz were evident even before the Asia Cup. However, the cricket board and team management opted to maintain the status quo, citing a desire to avoid disrupting the team's established combination, which had been in place for over a year. Pakistan captain Babar Azam also acknowledged the deficiencies in their death bowling and spin department, citing loose deliveries and a lack of wickets in the middle overs.

The refusal to address spin concerns has sparked criticism, deepening Pakistan's World Cup woes. The team's failure to heed strategic advice has not only impacted their performance but also intensified scrutiny on the decision-making process within the cricket board and management. As Pakistan grapples with the aftermath of their disappointing World Cup campaign, questions about the overlooked spin department issues continue to loom large.
