Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anukriti Sharma brought light into the life of a 70-year-old woman, Noorjahan, by providing her with electricity in her house. This act of kindness took place in Khedi village, situated within the Agauta police station limits, as part of the "Mission Shakti Abhiyan" where women and girls were being informed about various government schemes.

 

During the awareness campaign, Noorjahan shared her plight with the 2020-batch IPS officer, revealing that her house had no electricity connection. Touched by her situation, Sharma took immediate action to address the issue.

 

On Monday, Sharma revisited the village along with Station House Officer Jitendra Kumar Saxena to resolve Noorjahan's predicament. She promptly contacted the electricity department and arranged for a power connection to be installed in the elderly woman's house.

Additionally, a pedestal fan was gifted to Noorjahan to provide relief from the sweltering summer heat.

 

Sharma shared her overwhelming happiness on Twitter, describing it as a heartfelt moment akin to the iconic movie "Swades." She expressed her immense joy in being able to provide the electrical connection to Noorjahan aunty's house, as it felt like bringing a ray of light into her life.

 

She also extended her gratitude to SHO Jitendra ji and the entire team for their unwavering support throughout the endeavor. Sharma also shared a video on her Twitter handle, capturing the heartwarming moment when Noorjahan's house lit up with a glowing LED bulb.

In the video, Noorjahan's face radiates happiness as the bulb illuminates the room. She affectionately pats the back of the IPS officer, expressing her gratitude for the much-needed support.

 

To commemorate the occasion, sweets were exchanged between the police personnel and Noorjahan. Sharma even took the time to demonstrate how to operate the fan, ensuring Noorjahan's comfort.

 

Recalling the encounter, Sharma mentioned that Noorjahan had approached her during a public meeting and shared her financial crisis along with her lack of electricity. Determined to assist her, the IPS officer coordinated with the electricity department and successfully provided Noorjahan with a power connection.
