In a remarkable joint operation, the Indian Navy and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) intercepted a vessel near Gujarat's Porbandar port, seizing a staggering 3,300 kilograms of illicit substances, comprising charas and methamphetamine, marking one of the most significant drug busts in recent memory. This collaborative effort underscores the effectiveness of coordinated enforcement strategies in combating transnational crime.

The operation unfolded on Tuesday when naval authorities intercepted a small ship navigating near the Gujarat coast, leading to the discovery of 3,089 kilograms of charas, along with 158 kilograms of methamphetamine and 25 kilograms of morphine. The successful interception resulted in the apprehension of all five crew members, who were identified as Pakistani nationals, highlighting the international dimensions of drug trafficking networks operating in the region.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah commended the joint effort, emphasizing its importance in realizing the government's vision of a drug-free India. Through a tweet, Shah celebrated the operation as a historic milestone in the nation's anti-drug initiatives, crediting the collaborative efforts of the NCB, Navy, and Gujarat Police. The sizable seizure not only disrupts illicit drug networks but also serves as a testament to the government's resolute commitment to safeguarding public health and security.

As India continues to bolster its maritime security measures, such successful operations demonstrate the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation and intelligence-sharing mechanisms in countering evolving threats posed by transnational criminal syndicates.

Overall, the record-breaking drug seizure stands as a testament to the Indian Navy's vigilance and operational capabilities, underscoring its pivotal role in safeguarding the nation's maritime interests and upholding law and order at sea.
