Indian cricket team secured a win

The Indian cricket team secured a win by 7 wickets in the third One Day International (ODI) held at Providence Stadium on Tuesday. This marked India's first victory in the ongoing five-match T20I series, where West Indies currently holds a 2-1 lead.

Choosing to bat initially, West Indies had a strong beginning with their opening batsmen, Kyle Mayers and Brandon King, consistently accumulating runs against the Indian bowlers. Nonetheless, Axar Patel's spin proved formidable for Mayers, resulting in his dismissal after scoring 25 runs in the 8th over. Subsequently, the right-handed batsman Johnson Charles took to the crease.

Kuldeep Yadav then ousted Charles after he had scored 14 runs. This paved the way for the left-handed Nicholas Pooran to take his place at the crease. In an impressive display of form, Pooran aggressively struck Kuldeep for 13 runs, comprising both fours and sixes. During the 15th over, Kuldeep struck twice, dismissing both Pooran and the well-established Brandon King. Pooran departed after contributing 20 runs, while King's innings concluded after he had made 42 runs.

In a long-awaited turn of events, India emerges victorious in the third T20I clash against West Indies, marking their first win in the series and showcasing a significant shift in their performance.

Moving to the 18th over, Mukesh Kumar claimed the wicket of Shimron Hetmyer, scored 9 runs. Then, in the 19th over, Rovman Powell unleashed his power, single-handedly smashing Arshdeep Singh for 17 runs, including two massive sixes. Powell delivered a powerful blow in the final over of Mukesh's spell, sending the ball sailing for a six, contributing to his team's tally of 159/5 on the scoreboard.

During the chase of a 160-run target, the home team struck a significant blow against India by dismissing debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal for just 1 run off 2 balls, thanks to Obed McCoy. Jaiswal's mistimed shot sent the ball soaring high, landing directly into the waiting hands of Alzarri Joseph at mid-on. Struggling Shubman Gill, eager to regain his form, continued to falter with the bat in unfamiliar conditions. The fifth over saw Gill's ongoing batting struggle. Alzarri Joseph outfoxed Gill with a well-placed short delivery, evident from Gill's audible frustration.

Tilak Varma, displaying fine form, began with consecutive boundaries, gathering 10 runs off the fast bowler. India reached 100 in the 10.3rd over, thanks to Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 83 off 44. Alzarri Joseph dismissed Suryakumar, a significant breakthrough for West Indies, as he was caught by Brandon King. Suryakumar had been steering India's progress, but this time he fell to the King. He hit his fourth six, adding to his 10 fours, keeping India dominant.

Suryakumar and Varma built an impressive 87-run partnership. In the 18th over, Hardik Pandya (20 off 15) stylishly sealed the chase with a six over long-off off Rovman Powell. India chased down 160 with 13 balls and seven wickets remaining. Young Varma remained unbeaten on 49*, narrowly missing his half-century. India trailed West Indies 1-2 in the ongoing series.
