An engine failure is said to have caused a Robinson R-44 helicopter to crash in Key Biscayne Harbor, Florida. The FAA confirmed that the pilot, who was the sole person on board, was saved by agents from the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission (FWC). It's unknown what the pilot's situation is right now. Because of their close proximity to the coast, they decided to add the Federal Water Commission after getting the US Coast Guard's initial response.

The FAA and the NTSB are among the organizations investigating the incident; the helicopter is purportedly registered to Drax Enterprises LLC.

Footage from the incident has been posted on social media platforms, featuring witnesses and the submerged helicopter.

"I was just lying on the beach, and I'm looking out into the ocean." One eyewitness told 7News that's how the incident happened.Looking up, I see a helicopter flying down, and then it just keeps swooping down until, loud and clear, it hits the land.

He kept stressing the importance of the first responders arriving quickly.

He was told by an insider, I have to say, I believe it was the Coast Guard or the first responders, whoever arrived at the scene were very fast, I'd say within minutes. He was mentioning to the first respondent. First responders had assembled by the time the helicopter had not even submerged.

This is what another eyewitness said, according to NBC Miami. The tail end of the helicopter was wobbling from side to side, giving the impression that there was some kind of technical issue. And then I watched it fall into the lake.

We don't yet know the identity of the pilot.
