In a thrilling turn of events during the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, Pakistan found their momentum, securing their third victory of the tournament, ending a four-match losing streak in a showdown against Bangladesh on October 31 in Kolkata. Amidst a sea of on-field and off-field challenges, Pakistan's strategic maneuvering and tactical decisions seemed to hit the right notes.

Pakistan's triumph came at the price of leaving out their spinning all-rounders, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz. The bowlers proved their mettle by limiting Bangladesh to a modest total of 204. The opening duo of Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar Zaman then took the reins with a remarkable 128-run partnership that defied their opponents.

Fakhar Zaman, making a notable comeback after a prolonged absence from the squad, showcased his prowess by smashing 81 runs off 74 balls. This batting display paved the way for Pakistan to clinch a convincing 7-wicket victory, wrapping up the match in just 32.3 overs. The openers, Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar Zaman, rightly received accolades for their spectacular partnership.

However, the highlight of the match belonged to wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, renowned for his spirited enthusiasm both on and off the field. In a comical twist, Rizwan found himself in a peculiar situation. Uncertain about a possible caught-behind, he decided to consult the batter regarding the decision to opt for the Decision Review System (DRS).

This amusing incident unfolded during the 43rd over of Bangladesh's innings, bowled by Shaheen Afridi. As a delivery veered close to Taskin Ahmed's pads, Rizwan and the bowler were left perplexed, unsure whether the ball had made contact with the bat or the pad. Captain Babar Azam intervened, asking them if they wanted to utilize the DRS for further clarification. What followed was a hilarious exchange: Rizwan turned to Taskin, inquiring whether the ball had hit the bat or the pad. To everyone's surprise, Taskin confirmed that it had touched his pads and not the bat.

The antics on display left the veteran commentator Ravi Shastri in splits as he marveled at the audacity of Rizwan's decision to consult the batter on a DRS call. The video of this incident quickly went viral on the internet, entertaining cricket enthusiasts worldwide.

With this win, Pakistan now holds a record of three victories in seven matches, keeping their hopes alive for a spot in the semi-finals of the World Cup 2023.
