The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued a security advisory in response to the farmers' protest, indicating potential gate closures at several metro stations. As farmers mobilize towards Delhi, security concerns have prompted the DMRC to take precautionary measures across the capital.

Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk, Mandi House, Barakhamba Road, Janpath, Khan Market, and Lok Kalyan Marg are among the stations where gates may be closed, as outlined by the DMRC. Despite these measures, the affected stations will remain operational to ensure minimal disruption to commuters.

The heightened security measures come in light of past incidents, including the chaos that ensued during the January 26, 2021 tractor rally when protesting farmers breached security barriers and entered the national capital, including the Red Fort. To prevent a recurrence of such incidents, security arrangements have been bolstered, with the closure of the Red Fort to visitors among the precautionary measures undertaken.

The DMRC's advisory underscores the significance of ensuring the safety and security of commuters amid ongoing protests, highlighting the need for collaborative efforts to mitigate potential disruptions. As tensions persist, authorities remain vigilant, emphasizing the importance of adherence to security protocols to safeguard public infrastructure and maintain order in the capital.

The farmers' protest, which has been ongoing for several months, centers on demands regarding agricultural reform and support. The movement has garnered widespread attention and support, leading to various demonstrations and marches across the country.

In response to the evolving situation, authorities have been closely monitoring developments and implementing measures to ensure public safety. Alongside the DMRC's advisory, law enforcement agencies have been deployed to maintain peace and order, particularly in areas prone to protest activity.

Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing protests, efforts are underway to address the concerns raised by farmers through dialogue and constructive engagement. The government has expressed willingness to engage in discussions to find a mutually acceptable resolution to the issues at hand.

In the meantime, commuters are advised to stay informed about any updates regarding metro station closures and to plan their journeys accordingly. The DMRC has assured the public that all necessary steps will be taken to minimize inconvenience while prioritizing safety during this period of heightened security alert.
