NEET Aspirant

The Delhi High Court has expressed astonishment at a medical aspirant's audacious attempt to manipulate her Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet during the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG-2023.

The court has levied a fine of Rs 20,000 on the young woman involved, emphasising that such misconduct cannot be tolerated within the legal system.

Delhi High Court fines NEET UG-2023 aspirant for OMR sheet alteration. Upholding exam integrity.

Initially, Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav contemplated more substantial penalties and even involving the police, but decided against it, taking into account the petitioner's youthful age.

The court firmly asserted that the records provided by the authorities, particularly the National Testing Agency (NTA), are considered the official records and should not be subjected to doubt.

It underscored that the NTA lacks any personal interest in manipulating a candidate's scores, raising doubts about the petitioner's claims regarding the authenticity of her OMR sheet.

 NEET Aspirant
The Delhi High Court has expressed astonishment at a medical aspirant's audacious attempt to manipulate her Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet during the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG-2023.

The petitioner, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, had approached the court seeking her original OMR sheet, a reevaluation of her scores, and allocation of an MBBS seat for NEET (UG)-2023. Initially, she boasted a rank of 351 with a percentile of 99.9 and total marks of 697 out of 720. However, her rank mysteriously dropped to 12,530,32 with a percentile of 38.4, leading to suspicion.

NTA countered the petitioner's allegations by presenting the original OMR sheet, asserting that it had been tampered with. Even after examining this evidence, the petitioner continued to deny its authenticity.

The court emphasised that "such an attempt cannot be tolerated within the confines of the legal system."
