Cyclone Biparjoy intensifies as Gujarat braces for its impact.

In response to the approaching Cyclone Biparjoy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed officials and ministers to remain vigilant and take all necessary steps to mitigate the impact. Union Minister Parshottam Rupala confirmed that the Prime Minister took stock of the arrangements and directed concerned authorities to be on high alert mode.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for coastal areas of Gujarat.

Amidst the preparations, Amreli police in Gujarat have demonstrated their commitment to ensuring the well-being of communities. They have been delivering essential items, including vegetables and milk, to the villagers of Shiyalbet in Jafrabad, Gujarat, ensuring that basic necessities are being provided during this challenging time.

As part of the preparedness measures, over 400 shelter homes have been identified in the Dwarka district, facilitating the safe relocation of residents.

The Gujarat authorities, however, are facing challenges as some villagers are hesitant to leave behind their livestock and belongings.

The cyclone is anticipated to make landfall near Jakhau port on Thursday evening, affecting the districts of Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Jamnagar.

Western Railway has announced the cancellation or short-termination of approximately 95 trains running through or originating from the areas likely to be impacted by Cyclone Biparjoy. This suspension will remain in effect until June 15, ensuring the safety of passengers and preventing potential disruptions.

The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in several districts of Gujarat, including Kutch, Dwarka, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Rajkot, Morbi, and Junagadh, on June 14 and 15. The cyclone's winds are expected to reach speeds of up to 140 kmph in these districts.

Reports indicate that five individuals have already lost their lives in Mumbai and Gujarat due to the cyclone's effects.

In light of the situation, approximately twenty thousand people have been evacuated from seven districts in Gujarat. This evacuation is aimed at safeguarding lives and minimizing the potential risks posed by the cyclone.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a meeting in the national capital to review the preparedness for Cyclone Biparjoy. Emphasizing the importance of adhering to Prime Minister Modi's directives, Shah called for swift action and zero casualties.

The deployment of an adequate number of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams by the central government highlights the commitment to relief and rescue operations.

With the impact of Cyclone Biparjoy, there is a possibility of fallen trees and flooding in certain areas, particularly in Kutch, Devbhoomi Dwarka, and Jamnagar. The wind speed is expected to range from 50 to 70 kmph today, increasing to 85 kmph on June 15.

On June 15, the strongest winds are forecasted for Kutch, Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Junagadh, and Morbi, with speeds reaching 125 to 145 kmph.

As Gujarat remains on high alert, the combined efforts of the government, officials, and authorities are focused on minimizing the impact of Cyclone Biparjoy and ensuring the safety and well-being of the affected population.
