The Kerala Story' is a controversial film that has sparked outrage in the southern state for its alleged attempts to spread misinformation and communal propaganda.

In a scathing critique on Sunday, Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan accused the creators of "The Kerala Story", a controversial film, of propagating the ideology of the Sangh Parivar. He referred to the family of organizations affiliated with or inspired by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological foundation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and their portrayal of the southern state as a hub of religious extremism. Despite the courts, investigative agencies, and even the Union Home Ministry having rejected the concept of "love jihad", the chief minister claimed that the film makers still chose to highlight it.

In a statement, the Chief Minister alleged that the trailer of the film was intentionally created to stir up communal tensions and spread hate propaganda against the state. He further accused the Sangh Parivar of attempting to disrupt the religious harmony in Kerala by promoting communalism. The CM also criticized the film for falsely claiming that 32,000 women in Kerala were converted and joined the Islamic State. He dismissed this narrative as a fabrication created by the Sangh Parivar's propaganda machine.

Referring to 'The Kerala Story', the Chief Minister stated that the freedom of expression cannot be an excuse for using cinema as a tool to propagate sectarianism and create divisions in the state. He asserted that it was not acceptable to spread false information and promote communalism to divide the people of Kerala. The CM emphasized that freedom of expression should be exercised responsibly and not be used to spread lies and divisive ideologies.

Sudipto Sen's 'The Kerala Story' claims to reveal the circumstances behind the disappearance of around 32,000 women in the southern state, who the film falsely alleges were radicalised and deployed for terrorist missions in India and beyond. Kerala's Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, responded to the controversy surrounding the film by condemning its propaganda and false claims. The Congress party also urged authorities to deny permission to screen the film, citing its alleged misinformation and negative portrayal of the Muslim community

Opposition leader V D Satheesan denounced 'The Kerala Story', stating that the film was a "bundle of lies" with a false claim that 32,000 women were converted and sent to Islamic State-held areas. He accused Sangh Parivar outfits of promoting the film and attempting to defame both the state and the community. Satheesan's comments come amidst growing concerns about the content of the film, which has faced allegations of spreading misinformation and negative portrayals of the Muslim community.

However, several political leaders and social activists have accused the film of promoting false narratives and painting a negative picture of the state's Muslim community. Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, has criticized the film, calling it an attempt by Sangh Parivar outfits to defame the state and the community.

The controversy surrounding the film has led to calls for a ban on its release. The opposition Congress party has requested that the state government not grant permission for the film's screening, citing its alleged inflammatory content.

Despite the criticism and opposition, the film's producers remain undeterred and are set to release 'The Kerala Story' in cinemas on May 5. The film features Adah Sharma in a lead role and has been eagerly awaited by her fans.

It remains to be seen how the film is received by audiences and critics. Will it prove to be a box-office hit or a controversial flop? Only time will tell.
