The Assam government, in a significant move, has officially proclaimed January 22 as a 'dry day' to coincide with the momentous consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. This decision was reached during a pivotal cabinet meeting held in Guwahati, where several critical resolutions were put forth, emphasizing the solemnity of this occasion.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a public statement, underscored the Assam Cabinet's determination to observe January 22 as a 'Dry Day,' aligning with the Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ram Lalla Virajman. This decision was part of a comprehensive array of resolutions, including the endorsement of the 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan,' a novel initiative geared towards bolstering rural women entrepreneurs.

Following a cabinet meeting chaired by CM Sarma, Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah reaffirmed the government's commitment to commemorate the inauguration of the Ram temple by designating January 22 as a dry day across Assam.

Preparations for the consecration ceremony are in full swing, with elaborate arrangements underway to facilitate the participation of thousands of dignitaries and individuals from diverse societal segments. The Vedic rituals for the Pran-Pratishtha of Ram Lalla are slated to commence on January 16, a week ahead of the primary ceremony.

The pivotal rituals for the consecration will be conducted by Varanasi-based priest Lakshmi Kant Dixit on January 22, coinciding with the Amrit Mahautsav observed from January 14 to January 22 in Ayodhya. Additionally, plans are in place for a grand 1008 Hundi Mahayagya, catering to the sustenance of thousands of devotees anticipated to throng Ayodhya for this auspicious event.

The construction of several tent cities in Ayodhya underscores the preparations to accommodate the influx of devotees converging upon Uttar Pradesh's temple town to witness the grand consecration of the Ram temple.
