In a direct and unequivocal rebuke, former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa voiced strong opposition to the recent decision made by the Siddaramaiah-led government to lift the ban on hijabs within educational institutions in the state. Yediyurappa minced no words, alleging that this move was solely undertaken to cater to and appease the Muslim community, expressing his vehement discontent with the motives behind the ruling.

Yediyurappa's statement was laced with criticism, highlighting his firm stance against what he perceived as a decision motivated by political pandering rather than a genuine concern for educational policies. "Nobody demanded Siddaramaiah to withdraw this hijab decision. All the communities are together. To attend the classes, the same uniform is required, this has been decided by the court also... Just to please the Muslim community, Siddaramaiah has taken this hasty decision," he emphasized, clearly outlining his opposition to the reversal of the ban.

The former CM explicitly condemned Siddaramaiah's actions, urging an immediate retraction of the decision. He staunchly advocated for uniformity in educational institutions, citing court decisions supporting the requirement of a standardized dress code. Yediyurappa's condemnation was not solely focused on the decision's impact but also extended to the ethical implications, denouncing it as a strategic move that exploited community sentiments for political gain.

In addition to his critique of the government's decision, Yediyurappa also asserted that this maneuver would not significantly influence the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He confidently expressed that the electorate would effectively communicate their dissent through their votes, indicating that this controversial decision would not sway public opinion in favor of the ruling party.

Yediyurappa's criticism wasn't limited to the hijab decision alone; he extended his censure to encompass the broader educational atmosphere in the state. He accused the Chief Minister of contaminating the educational environment with irresponsible political maneuvers, stating, "At least, he should have spared children from his dirty politics."

This contentious decision also drew attention to alleged inconsistencies in the treatment of religious symbols. The BJP state president highlighted instances where Hindu women purportedly faced discrimination, being compelled to remove traditional adornments such as the 'mangal sutra' and toe rings during examination procedures, further fueling the opposition's disapproval of the hijab ban's revocation.
