Woman Set on Fire Her Two Daughters
A 27-year-old woman set on fire her two daughters-one died , both under the age of seven, on hillocks near Mulbagal in Karnataka, a few kilometers from Palamaner in Chittoor district. While one child is fighting for their life in a Mulbagal hospital, the other are scorching to death.
The Detailed Investigation
According to reports, Jyothi (25) of Ramasamudram mandal in Annamayya district married a man from Rompicharla in Chittoor district eight years ago after falling in love.
She and her children left Rompicharla four years ago after her husband became addicted to alcohol and were living with her grandmother in Peddapanjani, near Palamaner in the Chittoor district. Financial difficulties, social neglect, and the children's ill health allegedly drove her to this extreme measure.
According to Ramasamudram police, the woman reached the hillocks near Mulbagal in neighboring State in despair and allegedly took an extreme step.
After dousing her two daughters with gasoline, the woman allegedly attempted to embrace them while on fire but was rescued by some young people who witnessed the suicide attempt. The woman told the youth that after setting fire to the children , she attempted suicide but stopped by some locals.
Later, police arrived on the scene and transported the child who was a fighting for his life to a local hospital, while the body of the other child was taken to the mortuary for autopsy. According to the Ramasamudram police, the Mulbagal police have registered a case and are conducting further investigation.
