A woman named Anjali has been arrested by the Delhi Police for reportedly attacking her daughter-in-law with acid in the New Usmanpur neighborhood. The victim was severely burned and taken to the JPC Hospital with acid burns of 25%. She was transferred to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital for further care.
The accused, Anjali, and her family had left the scene of the crime. However, on Friday, the Delhi Police Department tracked down Anjali to Sant Nagar Burari and detained her.
The case has been registered under sections 323, 326A, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at the New Usmanpur Police Station. Initial investigations revealed that the complainant had been married for two years and had a 6-month-old daughter from the marriage.
Both the victim and Anjali resided in the same house, with the victim living on the 2nd floor and Anjali on the ground floor. Anjali had filed an eviction suit against the victim in Karkardooma Court. On the evening of September 20, following a court hearing, Anjali allegedly poured acid on the victim in a fit of anger.
The police are continuing their investigation into the matter, and further details are awaited.
