Details surrounding the launch of Windows 12 have emerged through an unexpected source, Intel's CFO, David Zinsner. This revelation could potentially signal the arrival of the next-generation Windows operating system in the near future. Much like its predecessor, Windows 11, which introduced striking visual improvements and widget support in October 2021, Windows 12 is expected to bring significant changes. Nevertheless, Microsoft has maintained a tight-lipped approach, withholding any official statements regarding its forthcoming desktop OS iteration.

During a recent conversation at the Citi 2023 Global Technology Conference, Intel CFO David Zinsner inadvertently let slip some information about the release date of Windows 12. He remarked, "We actually think '24 is going to be a pretty good year for clients, in particular, because of the Windows refresh." This seemingly casual comment hints at an impending Windows update.

Intel has been making strides in its processor technology, having recently unveiled the Intel Core Ultra processors, slated for launch on December 14. While primarily designed for laptops, Intel's Arrow Lake-S CPUs, anticipated for 2024 and boasting up to 24 cores, could potentially coincide with the release of Windows 12.

One of Intel's notable developments is its Meteor Lake chips, which incorporate a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) for enhanced on-device AI performance, accompanied by the first integrated NPU AI engine. Considering Microsoft's focus on AI features in Windows 11, such as Windows Copilot, it's conceivable that the forthcoming Windows iteration will further emphasize AI technology and capabilities.

It is vital to underscore that while Zinsner's comments have raised intrigue about the Windows "refresh," Microsoft has yet to provide official confirmation or details regarding the release of Windows 12.

As anticipation and curiosity mount regarding the potential features and enhancements Windows 12 may bring, it remains imperative for users to patiently await an official announcement from Microsoft for concrete information about the upcoming operating system. Windows enthusiasts are keeping a close watch on developments in the tech world, eager to witness the next evolution of Microsoft's flagship operating system.
