West Bengal's Governor, CV Ananda Bose, vehemently criticized the recent assault on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials in North 24 Parganas. The incident unfolded during a raid in Sandeshkhali village, prompting Bose to condemn the state government's inability to maintain law and order.

Labeling the attack as 'ghastly' and 'alarming,' Bose stressed the imperative role of a civilized government in curbing such barbaric acts within a democratic framework. He emphasized that it's the government's duty to prevent such acts of vandalism in a democratic society. Bose reiterated that the Constitution of India should be the guiding force when the government fails in its fundamental responsibilities.

Expressing firm resolve, Bose cautioned that he would explore all constitutional options for appropriate action, urging an immediate halt to pre-election violence. He adamantly asserted that Bengal should not descend into lawlessness, regardless of political circumstances, demanding the government to put an end to this erosion of democratic values.

The Governor underscored the importance of accountability, stating that Bengal's democratic fabric must not fray due to disorderliness. The assault on ED officers and the subsequent damage to their vehicles allegedly by supporters of TMC leader Sheikh Sajahan during the raid related to a ration distribution scam raised serious concerns.

The repercussions of this attack extend beyond the immediate context, highlighting substantial challenges in maintaining law and order in the state. Governor Ananda Bose's outspoken condemnation underscores the urgent need for responsible governance, demanding an end to political violence and calling for swift rectification and accountability in such scenarios.
