According to reports, Kambli hit his wife on the head with a cooking pan, severely injuring her head. As per Vinod Kambli’s wife, Andrea Hewitt reported, Vinod Kambli allegedly entered his Bandra apartment in a drunken state between 1:00 and 1:30 pm IST and began verbally harassing his wife. The incident was witnessed by Kambli's 12 year old son, who also made an effort to calm his father down. However, Kambli rushed to the kitchen angrily and threw a cooking pan at Andrea which caused her severe head injuries. "After smashing with the cooking pan, he tried to hit me with a bat. I was able to stop him and I immediately rushed to the hospital with my son", Andrea stated in the FIR. After an investigation, the security guard at Vinod Kambli's home added that the cricketer left his apartment that day at around 2:00 pm IST with a head injury. On being asked about his head injury, Kambli replied that he allegedly got into a fight with his Vinod Kambli had played 17 Tests and 104 ODIs for India, however, he also has previously been into headlines for inappropriate reasons. In 2022, he had been detained by police in connection with drunk driving incidents. The former Indian cricketer recently discussed his financial situation for the first time and revealed that he has applied for a job with the Mumbai Cricket Association. If a position was provided to him, Vinod Kambli had promised to quit drinking to the cricket organisation.
