Uttarakhand Tunnel Tragedy: Ongoing Rescue Mission for Trapped Workers

In Uttarakhand, an under-construction tunnel collapse trapped forty workers, sparking ongoing rescue efforts and governmental intervention. The operation involves utilizing large pipes and drilling machines to clear the blockage. Prime Minister Modi and CM Dhami have shown concern, coordinating relief efforts and ensuring the trapped workers' safety.

Forty workers were trapped in Uttarakhand state after a tunnel collapsed, and rescue efforts continue for a third day. The accident occurred in an under-construction tunnel along the Uttarkashi-Yamunotri road. Efforts are still being made to rescue the trapped people, as trucks loaded with 900 mm pipes carry out the rescue.

The government formed a six-member expert committee to investigate the collapse, stressing the seriousness of the situation. The rescue procedure involves preparing a drilling machine platform and using a large-diameter MS pipe to clear the blockage inside the Silk Yala tunnel.

A truck carrying 900mm pipe arrived at Silk Yala around 2.30 am on Tuesday to contribute to the ongoing rescue operation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought updates from CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on the situation in Uttarkashi and expressed concern over the trapped workers.

CM Dhami assured PM Modi to coordinate relief efforts between states and central agencies. He confirmed that all the trapped workers are fine and that efforts are still on to get them out quickly. The government has arranged for large-diameter Hume pipes from Haridwar and Dehradun to support the operation.

Fortunately, NDRF and SDRF officials have confirmed that all the trapped workers are safe and receiving basic supplies such as oxygen and water. The trapped people have been well communicated with, and their safety has been ensured during ongoing rescue operations. The Prime Minister's Office is aware of the situation and is ensuring a quick and coordinated rescue operation.
