Tinder Date Murder: Jaipur Woman, Two Others, Get Life Imprisonment

Jaipur court has sentenced a woman, Priya Seth, and two others to life imprisonment for the murder of businessman Dushyant Sharma, whom they met through the dating app Tinder. The court convicted them based on evidence of wrongful confinement, murder, disappearance of evidence, and criminal conspiracy. Priya, along with her accomplices, held Sharma hostage, demanding ransom, and ultimately killed him when the ransom was not paid. They disposed of his body by chopping it and stuffing it into a suitcase dumped on a Delhi road. The court's judgment is a result of detailed evidence and marks the culmination of a five-year-old crime.

In Jaipur, a chilling tale of a Tinder date turned deadly culminated in a court delivering life imprisonment sentences to a trio involved in the murder. Five years ago, Priya Seth, now 27, and two accomplices plotted and executed the gruesome killing of Dushyant Sharma, a 28-year-old businessman, after befriending him on the dating app.

The sessions judge, Ajit Kumar Hinger, emphasized the prosecution's presentation of substantial evidence supporting the case, affirming the authenticity of the crime's details. The narrative unveiled by the prosecution depicted a harrowing sequence of events initiated when Priya lured Dushyant to a rented place where the trio held him captive, demanding a ransom from his family.

As per Sandeep Lohariya, the prosecution counsel, when the ransom went unmet, the accused resorted to brutality. They fatally stabbed Dushyant multiple times, ultimately smothering him to death with a pillow. The court, basing its judgment on multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code including wrongful confinement, murder, causing the disappearance of evidence, and criminal conspiracy, sentenced the three to life imprisonment.

Their plan had initially revolved around extorting Rs 10 lakh from Dushyant's family, resulting in his father depositing Rs 3 lakh into his account. Subsequently, the accused used the victim's debit card to withdraw Rs 20,000 from an ATM in Jaipur. Fearing detection, they resorted to a chilling act - chopping Dushyant's body into pieces and fitting them into a suitcase, which they later abandoned on a Delhi road.

The criminal history of Priya and one of her partners, Dishkant Kamra, added another layer of complexity to the case. Priya had prior arrests in 2014, 2016, and 2017 for ATM vandalism, while Kamra faced one arrest in Mumbai.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking behind online interactions and the devastating outcomes of criminal intent. The court's verdict highlights the severity of such crimes and the legal system's commitment to justice in the face of heinous acts perpetrated through calculated schemes.
