Australian opener David Warner praised young Delhi Capitals batters Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abhishek Porel for their impressive performances in the ongoing IPL season, despite the team's struggles.
New Delhi [India], April 22 (ANI): Australian opener David Warner has sung praises for young Delhi Capitals batsmen Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abhishek Porel, who have played an impressive role in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
Warner, who is the Australian captain and 36 years old, addressed a press event in Delhi on Monday, stating that the two youngsters have been eye-catchers due to their batting performance in the Capitals this season.
"Jake was great; he has the talent. I have never doubted him," Warner said of the 20-year-old Australian batter who has produced 140 runs in just three matches at a strike rate of 222.22.
"I should also say that Abhishek has done quite well. When he got to bat as an impact player against Punjab, he made a contribution of 30 in nine balls. He is a player who will grow to be great."
The 22-year-old Porel has piled up a total of 148 runs in seven knocks at a rate of above 162, and his top score is 42.
The headlining individual efforts might have carried them (Delhi Capitals) only to the eighth spot on the IPL points table with just three wins from eight games. Sunrisers Hyderabad was the cause of their latest defeat on Saturday.

Warner stated that it is imperative for the team to improve their play from top to bottom if they hope to make the playoffs.
"We're not where we should be at the moment, and that needs to be enhanced with bat and ball. We need to win to the end just to qualify for the playoffs."
The veteran also commented on the controversial Impact Player rule being introduced, saying it helps maximize the full squad but sounded a note of caution that it might come at the expense of reducing the scope for all-rounders.
Delhi Capitals are scheduled to play their next home match against Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on the coming Wednesday. The side aims that players like McGurk and Porel will continue their good job, helping them to return to winning ways.
