Tesla Inc. Faces Court Trials:-

A court trial began on Monday to determine how much money Tesla Inc. must pay to the Black lift operator who claimed to have experienced severe racial harassment while working at Tesla's assembly factory in San Francisco.

During opening remarks, the lawyer for complainant Owen Diaz stated that the Black employees were treated as second-class citizens at the factory and often faced racial harassment, graffiti, and threats. The lawyer further added that “It is a conscious decision of Tesla not to safeguard African American employees inside their workplace”.

According to Tesla's lawyer, any racist behavior at the factory plant is unacceptable. Yet he asserted that Diaz was exaggerating his allegations and lacked the evidence necessary to demonstrate that he sustained psychological harm justifying monetary damages. “Except for a lawyer confirming it occurred eight years later, there is almost no evidence supporting the incident”, according to the lawyer.

When Diaz complained to factory supervisors in 2015 that workers at the factory often used racist insults and scribbled swastikas, racist cartoons, and vulgarities on walls and workstations, Tesla Inc. allegedly did nothing, according to Diaz's lawsuit.

Additionally, in a related case brought by California's civil rights commission, Tesla Inc. is also accused of permitting persistent racial harassment at its Fremont factory. However, these cases are still in their early stages.

Although the verdict in Diaz's trial won't directly impact any other legal proceedings, it might encourage employees to bring new claims against the business as it faces increasing challenges to establish its dominance in the electric vehicle market.
