India's prime leader, Narendra Modi, has voiced his displeasure at the lack of appreciation for Tamil Nadu's rich cultural legacy. He has emphasized the value of promoting and conserving this history not just in India but around the world.

Tamil language must reach globally just like ‘idli, dosa': PM Modi

The prime minister said that Tamil is the oldest language still in use worldwide in an interview with Thanthi TV. He also brought up the question of why people are not proud to be Tamil.

I am angry because we have been unfair to Tamil Nadu's rich tradition for a very long time. We do not take much pride in the fact that we speak Tamil, the oldest language in the world. India's prime minister correctly stated that the world needs to learn about its glorious heritage.

Prime Minister Modi also discussed the politicisation of the Tamil language. Prime Minister Modi thinks that the Tamil language should be propagated outside of Tamil Nadu, much like how south Indian foods like idli and dosa have gained international fame.

Politicization of language is one problem. Due to political pressure about South Indian food (such as idli), dosa will remain a specialty of Tamil Nadu. "I think the Tamil language should spread around the world in the same way that idli and dosa have," he stated.

In addition, PM Modi stated that Tamil Nadu has the ability to shift towards the "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India) model. He made use of the state's youth, industries, and advanced technology, to name just a few.

Tamil Nadu could become the driving force behind Viksit Bharat. This state is home to many different industries as well as some really gifted youth," he stated.

When asked why, in spite of its extraordinary electoral success, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hasn't been able to establish itself in Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Modi responded that his goals went beyond merely winning elections.

I wouldn't have given the development of the north-east priority if winning elections was my main objective. I have made more trips to the north-eastern states than any prime minister before me. My excursions to Tamil Nadu aren't just political, as far as I can tell. He stated that he is not bothered by Tamil Nadu's citizens' lack of support for the BJP.
