The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a case from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday, contesting his detention and subsequent remand by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the Delhi excise policy problem.

A bench consisting includes Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta is probably going to hear the plea.

Arvind Kejriwal, the petitioner, has appealed to India's highest court over the Delhi High Court's April 9 dismissal of his application and denial of his allegation that the court was carrying out a political vendetta in connection with the impending Lok Sabha election.

The Delhi High Court ruled that the investigative agency had enough evidence to support the detention, noting that the arrest was an "inevitable consequence of his non-cooperation" with the ED. Arvind Kejriwal was contacted nine times by the investigating agency about the subject, but he never appeared to testify.

The 103-page ruling was written by a lone judge named Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma. It further stated that the central government was not at blame for determining when the chief minister was taken into custody.

As part of a continuing investigation into potential money laundering related to the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy and its suspected anomalies, the AAP lawmaker was taken into custody on March 21. Following his most recent hearing on the matter, he was placed under judicial custody until April 15. As far as we can tell, he is the first chief minister in service to be arrested in this specific case. At the moment, the Chief Minister is detained at Tihar Prison.
