Sunny Deol reveals that his true challenges commenced post the release of Gadar: 'Limited opportunities were coming my way.'

'Limited opportunities were coming my way.'

Sunny Deol wears a contented smile, and rightfully so. His latest offering, Gadar 2, has already surged past KGF 2's box office collections, securing the third spot among the highest-grossing Hindi films ever. It now stands just shy of Baahubali 2 and Pathaan. As the movie steadily approaches the coveted 500 crore rupee milestone, the actor candidly reflects on his journey and challenges.

In a surprising revelation during an interview with BBC UK, Sunny Deol recounted a phase of struggle that followed the massive success of Gadar in 2001. Despite its blockbuster status, he shared the startling truth that substantial work wasn't flowing his way in the aftermath of the film's release.

In a recent interview, Sunny Deol discussed how despite the success of Gadar, he continued to face a dearth of promising opportunities in his career.

"Before Gadar's monumental success, I didn't encounter any significant hurdles. Surprisingly, even after Gadar garnered immense appreciation as one of the century's standout films, the flow of substantial work didn't seem to improve," revealed Sunny Deol. When probed about the possible cause for this unexpected turn, the actor attributed it to the evolving landscape, noting that the "Hindi film industry was transforming into Bollywood." Sunny elaborated, suggesting that the industry had seen a shift where corporates had taken the reins, leading to a mindset that revolved around quarterly calculations.

As the movie steadily approaches the coveted 500 crore rupee milestone, the actor candidly reflects on his journey and challenges.

This transformation, as Sunny described it, was marked by a change in how projects were chosen and backed. He reflected on a time when storytelling and creativity took precedence, contrasting it with the current environment where factors like box office numbers and financial returns appeared to carry greater weight. Despite the challenges this shift posed, Sunny Deol remained steadfast, adapting to the new era while staying true to his craft. His resilience and ability to navigate this evolving landscape underline his enduring presence in the industry.
