In a significant stride towards 'Atmanirbhar Bharat,' the Indian Army has introduced 'SAMBHAV'—an indigenous end-to-end secure mobile ecosystem. SAMBHAV, or Secure Army Mobile Bharat Version, leverages cutting-edge 5G technology, marking a substantial advancement in India's defense capabilities.

Crafted in collaboration with national centers of excellence from academia and industry, this secure mobile ecosystem ensures immediate connectivity with secure communication on the go. By addressing mobile network vulnerabilities, SAMBHAV minimizes the risk of compromising information security, showcasing the country's commitment to self-reliance.

Designed as a network-agnostic ecosystem, SAMBHAV utilizes indigenous public cellular networks. The system includes '5G-ready handsets utilizing multi-tier encryption,' aligning with the government's promotion of dual-use infrastructure and civil-military fusion in emerging technology.

Officials outline a phased plan for configuring 35,000 sets of SAMBHAV, with 2,500 sets scheduled for completion by January 15 and the remainder by May 31. The ecosystem's secure applications and operating system signify a crucial step towards achieving Atmanirbhar Bharat.

SAMBHAV's multi-layered encryption system spans across India, operating on a commercial network with built-in security measures. It symbolizes the Indian Army's transformation in cyberspace, where conventional capabilities are no longer the sole indicators of military strength.

Establishing a robust cyber defense triad encompassing people, processes, and technology, the Indian Army acknowledges cyberspace as a principal domain of hybrid warfare. The proliferation of networks and IT infrastructure within the army necessitates continuous strengthening and integration of cyber capabilities.

The ongoing establishment of Command Cyber Operations Support Wings (CCOSWs) signifies a strategic move to enhance cyber capabilities. Six CCOSWs for each command, operating at operational and tactical levels, underline the army's commitment to staying ahead in the dynamic landscape of cyber operations.
