The Narendra Modi-led NDA government is set to face a no-confidence motion as the Monsoon Session of Parliament kicks off. Rahul Gandhi, the restored parliamentary member of the Congress party, is anticipated to open the debate on the motion in the Lok Sabha.

 

The debate, spanning over three days, will focus on the opposition's concerns, with Manipur issues poised to dominate the discussions.

 

Amidst these proceedings, the INDIA party's floor leaders are scheduled to meet to strategize the approach for the discussion on the no-confidence motion. The motion, moved by opposition parties within the I.N.D.I.A bloc has gained acceptance from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

The parliamentary debate has been allocated a total of 12 hours, with the ruling BJP being given around seven hours to present their views. The Congress party will have approximately one hour and 15 minutes for their participation.

 

Other parties, including YSRCP, Shiv Sena, JDU, BJD, BSP, BRS, and LJP, have been granted a combined two hours, proportionally divided based on their representation in the House. Smaller parties and independent MPs will have 1 hour and 10 minutes to voice their perspectives.

The no-confidence motion discussions are expected to unfold on August 8 and 9 in the Lok Sabha, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's response anticipated on August 10. In parallel, the Rajya Sabha's legislative agenda includes the consideration and passage of the Inter-services Organisations (Command, Control, and Discipline) Bill, 2023, which aims to maintain discipline and proper discharge of duties for service personnel under the command of the Upper Commander-in-Chief or the Officer-in-Command of Inter-services Organisations.

 

Furthermore, the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2023, is slated for consideration and passage in the Rajya Sabha. This bill seeks to amend the Indian Institutes of Management Act of 2017. Other ministerial statements and reports, including those on the empowerment of women and government recommendations, are also expected to be presented during the session.
