Radical Islamists are behind Moscow attack: Putin

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, admitted on Monday that the attack on Moscow's Crocus City Hall on March 23 was carried out by Islamic militants. However, he restated his assertion that the atrocity claimed the lives of 139 people due to Ukraine's involvement.

Radical Islamists are behind Moscow attack: Putin

Putin said that authorities still don't know who "ordered" the attack carried out by "radical Islamists with an ideology that the Muslim world has fought for centuries" during a meeting in the Kremlin to discuss the response to the deadliest incident in Russia in the past 20 years. The Telegram chat software has been used by the Russian president to post messages.

It is clear to ask "Who exactly stands to benefit from this?" after the fact. "The neo-Nazi dictatorship in Kyiv has been responsible for those who have been at war with our country since 2014, and it is possible that this tragedy is only one link in a long chain of attempts," Putin stated.

According to him, the attack was carried out to "sow panic," and although though the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been raging for four years, it may have been intended to demonstrate to the Ukrainian people that "not all is lost for the Kyiv regime"

As per Putin's earlier remarks, the attackers of the musical venue in Moscow tried to escape to Ukraine by way of the Bryansk region, situated approximately 340 kilometers southwest of Moscow. Moreover, he said that certain Ukrainians had made arrangements for the four attackers to escape Russia across the border.
