Police Investigate Shivling Damage in Bihar Temple: Over 30 Named in FIR, 12 Arrested

In Begusarai, Bihar, police have initiated an investigation into an incident involving damage to a Shivling in a temple, resulting in the filing of over 30 First Information Reports (FIRs) and the arrest of 12 individuals.
The incident occurred in the Khatoopur village of the Lakhisarai police jurisdiction on Friday night when a specific community's members allegedly damaged a Shivling established in a Shiva temple founded in 1944, purportedly with the intention of inciting communal discord.
Following the temple incident, another group reportedly attacked a suspect's shop and caused property damage. They have demanded action in the case.
On Saturday, Central Minister and Member of Parliament from Begusarai, Giriraj Singh, along with his supporters, protested against the incident and demanded action against the suspects. The district police have claimed that more than 230 individuals have been named in the case, and efforts are underway to identify the accused based on CCTV footage and the mobile location of the suspects.
Prior to this, a police officer had revealed that there is a Shiva temple near the National Highway in the Khatoopur area of Lakhisarai. On receiving information that a part of the temple's Shivling had been damaged, a large police team reached the temple within 10 minutes. Those suspected of involvement in the damage have also been identified.
An individual suspected of damaging the temple's Shivling and related property has been identified, but is currently at large. The police have taken individuals from his residence into custody for questioning.
