Australian cricket captain Pat Cummins has announced his intention to enter the IPL auction for the 2024 season and confirmed that he is ready to captain Australia in ODIs. Cummins, who was absent from the 2023 IPL due to national commitments, acknowledged the importance of the event, especially ahead of the T20 World Cup.

After the first loss, Cummins, who has won seven straight and is a five-time ODI champion, is all set for the second semi-final of the tournament against South Africa. On future ODI captaincy, Cummins hinted at talks: "Probably yes. We will talk about it."

Looking to the future, Cummins prioritizes active participation in upcoming cricket events. It promises to be a unique and eventful year with an important offseason championship. But his main focus is back on Test cricket, where, from time to time, he has to switch from white-ball cricket to focus on Test matches.

Cummins acknowledged his able leadership through a busy year but stressed the importance of his involvement in cricket. "I feel I've been well managed and looked after in a really busy year where I never wanted to stop playing cricket," he said.

Expressing his excitement, Cummins will participate in the 2024 IPL auction with the aim of improving his T20 skills and getting back to his best form in the format ahead of the World Cup.

"I feel I haven't played a lot of T20 cricket, and in some ways, I feel I haven't played my best T20 cricket for a while," admitted Cummins, expressing his desire to secure his place in the next match. IPL increases your World Cup chances and improves your T20 bowling ability.
