Bengaluru witnesses the poignant end of an era as the iconic eatery, New Krishna Bhavan, prepares to conclude its 70-year culinary journey in Malleshwaram. Closing its doors on December 6, this beloved breakfast joint has been a cornerstone in the city's culinary scene, leaving a void in the hearts of Bengalureans.

Established in 1944 by Ramakrishna Prabhu, New Krishna Bhavan has been a cherished spot among morning walkers and visitors to Malleshwaram. Known for its piping hot dishes and household favorites like button idli with sambar, neer dosa, and akki roti, the eatery has enjoyed unwavering popularity across Bengaluru.

However, the fate of New Krishna Bhavan took an unexpected turn with reports confirming the sale of the building to a jewelry company. Consequently, the management made the poignant decision to permanently close the doors of this iconic eatery, leaving patrons and staff in a state of deep nostalgia and sadness.

The closure holds a deep impact not only on the culinary landscape but also on the lives of those associated with the establishment. "Before the pandemic, the staff strength was over 120," lamented one of the long-serving employees. The Covid crisis forced downsizing, leaving fewer than 80 staff members, some of whom dedicated close to 45 years to the eatery.

Expressing their dismay, residents of Malleshwaram took to social media platforms to share their heartfelt connections and memories with New Krishna Bhavan. The news of its closure evoked an outpouring of nostalgia, as patrons reminisced about their favorite dishes and the cherished moments spent at this culinary landmark.

In essence, the closure of New Krishna Bhavan marks not just the end of a restaurant but the conclusion of an era, leaving behind a legacy etched in the hearts and memories of Bengalureans for generations to come.
