The International League T20 has imposed a 20-month ban on Naveen-ul-Haq, an Afghan cricketer, due to a contract breach with Sharjah Warriors. The franchise offered an extension, but Naveen declined, resulting in this ban. ILT20 stressed the significance of honoring contracts, underscoring the consequences otherwise. Despite mediation attempts, the dispute remained unresolved. Naveen's commendable performance during the season couldn't salvage the team's standing as the Sharjah Warriors finished fifth in the league.

Afghanistan's cricketer, Naveen-ul-Haq, faced severe consequences as the International League T20 (ILT20) took a stringent stance against his breach of contract with the Sharjah Warriors franchise. The ILT20, on Monday, announced a significant 20-month ban for Haq due to his refusal to extend the agreement with the franchise, marking a distressing turn in his professional career.

The controversy stemmed from Haq's refusal to sign an extension offered by Sharjah Warriors, a decision that was in direct violation of the agreed-upon terms. As a result, ILT20 deemed this action as a breach of the player agreement, warranting a substantial penalty.

David White, the CEO of ILT20, expressed disappointment over the situation, highlighting the necessity for all parties involved to adhere to their contractual obligations. White stressed the potential damage caused by non-compliance, underscoring the need for mutual respect in professional commitments within the league.

The ban, while a regrettable outcome, was a direct consequence of Haq's failure to honor his obligations to the Sharjah Warriors. ILT20, as the governing body, found itself compelled to take stringent measures to uphold the sanctity of contractual agreements within the league, resulting in the enforcement of the 20-month ban.

The attempt to resolve the matter through mediation, initiated by Sharjah Warriors with ILT20's involvement, unfortunately, did not yield a resolution. Despite transparent disciplinary proceedings and ample opportunities for both parties to present their case, the dispute remained unresolved, leading to the imposition of the ban on Haq.

Haq's cricketing prowess was evident during the 2023 season with the Sharjah Warriors, where he participated in nine matches, securing an impressive 11 wickets at an average of 24.36, including a notable five-wicket haul. However, despite his individual performance, the Sharjah Warriors had a lackluster season, finishing fifth among the six teams, managing only three wins in ten games along with a no-result outing.
