In a noteworthy revelation, Union Minister Jitendra Singh disclosed that approximately two crore tourists flocked to Kashmir in 2023. This surge in tourist numbers not only reflects the scenic allure of the region but also serves as a testament to the enhanced security situation prevailing in the Valley. Singh, speaking at a function in the Kathua district, emphasized the commendable efforts of security agencies in thwarting terrorist activities.

Addressing concerns about a recent attack in the Poonch district resulting in casualties among soldiers, Singh acknowledged the gravity of such incidents. He assured the public that the relevant agencies were diligently implementing measures to counteract such threats. Despite isolated security challenges, Singh underscored that characterizing the overall situation as deteriorating would be inaccurate.

Singh also commented on the Supreme Court's verdict on December 11, validating the government's decision to abrogate Article 370. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for rectifying what he termed a "miscarriage of Constitution and democracy." Singh noted that even Jawaharlal Nehru, the architect of Article 370, had considered it temporary, yet subsequent leaders clung to it for vested interests.
