Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that Manipur has been ‘’torn apart’’ in two states.

Gandhi also accused the Central government of mishandling the situation and suggested that the Indian Army could swiftly restore normalcy if allowed to intervene.

Gandhi's critique came in response to PM Modi's recent address in Parliament, where the Prime Minister requested opposition parties to collaborate for the betterment of Manipur. However, Rahul Gandhi dismissed the Prime Minister's speech as lacking seriousness and empathy.

During a press conference, Gandhi highlighted the stark divisions within Manipur along ethnic lines, pointing out instances where certain communities refused to coexist in the same areas.

He also expressed concern over the ongoing violence and loss of life resulting from the division and urged PM Modi to visit Manipur to engage with affected communities.

Gandhi argued that as Prime Minister, Modi's role should transcend that of a mere politician.

He further urged Modi to address the Manipur issue as a representative of the nation, working to alleviate the suffering of its people.

While PM Modi called for unity and emphasized the need to prioritize the well-being of Manipur's citizens, Gandhi questioned the Prime Minister's commitment to truly resolving the crisis.

He emphasized that the situation was too dire for political maneuvering and stressed that the focus should be on the people of Manipur, not on upcoming elections.

In response to the political clash, citizens of Manipur express their hope that the Central government will take swift action to address the ongoing turmoil in their state. The divisions along ethnic lines have led to tragic consequences, with innocent lives lost in the process.
