Manipur, The Proud Host Of The First International Football Tournament

First International Football Tournament:-

It is going to be a proud moment for Manipur, the mother state for over 50 ace football players in the Indian team, on Wednesday (22 March 2023) as Manipur will be hosting for the first time ever, a Tri-National friendly football tournament between Myanmar, Kyrgyzstan and India.

The tournament is set to begin with the formalities today and the first match is scheduled on Wednesday. It will continue upto 28th March 2023.

The Khuman Lampak Stadium of Manipur has been chosen as the venue to host the coveted first international football tournament.  The stadium has a seating capacity for 35,000 people. The first international football tournament in this stadium of Manipur has also been hosted strategically in order to provide the Indian football players much practice for the Asian Cup later in 2023.

Proud Moment for Manipur

While declaring the first international football tournament in Manipur, CM Biren Singh took the names of few star players from Manipur like Ashlata Devi, Amarjeet Singh, Bala Devi and Dheeraj Singh to show the glorious position of Manipur with respect to the sport, football. Kalyan Chaubey, the President of AIFF reportedly expressed, “AIFF is fully aware that Manipur is a football playing state. And the state has produced a huge number of footballers, both men and women, but never before has a national team’s match been organized in the state.” On this note, Chaubey also stressed upon the importance of having a good support team that works tirelessly for training players. He informed that a plan for setting up a football academy with all technical support is under process.
