Their meeting had been scheduled just before the start of the local and regional election campaign of Spain PM Pedro Sánchez’s party, Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE).

Discussion on The US Immigration Issue

Spain PM Pedro Sánchez was deeply appreciated by Joe Biden for extending a helping hand to the US in solving the problem of illegal migrants. While the US faces an acute problem of a huge influx of migrants from Russia, China, and Haiti, Spain needs agricultural workers and laborers. As a result, Spain has agreed to accept migrants traveling to the US.

However, the only limitation to this scheme is that Spain will be providing refuge to such migrants only after they have been Internationally recognized as "refugees."

Spain PM Pedro Sánchez said, “Spain and the US we have common interests about democracy, prosperity, and safe, regular, and orderly migration patterns.”

Discussion on the Russia-Ukraine War

Apart from the immigration issue, Joe Biden also lauded Spain for backing the stand held by the United Nations in the Russia-Ukraine war.
