Amidst a chilling scenario in Jharkhand, the state government has declared a temporary closure of schools due to plummeting temperatures. Both government and private educational institutions across Jharkhand will observe a mandatory hiatus from December 26th to 31st. The decision stemmed from an official notification released by the state's school education and literacy department, citing the prevailing cold wave.

This directive encompasses a broad spectrum of schools, including government, non-government-aided/unaided, and minority institutions. The closure aims to ensure the safety of students and staff amidst the intensifying cold spell. However, recognizing the impending secondary and higher secondary board exams, the notice permits classes for grades 10 to 12 based on necessity.

The meteorological report reflects a significant drop in temperatures, with December 20th marking the lowest point. Nighttime temperatures hovered between 7 and 11 degrees Celsius across the state. Notably, Garhwa bore the brunt with a chilling low of 6.6 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Daltonganj at 7.9 degrees Celsius. The capital city, Ranchi, recorded a relatively milder minimum of 10.4 degrees Celsius. Other regions like Ramgarh, Bokaro, Chaibasa, and Jamshedpur experienced varying lows between 8.5 and 10.7 degrees Celsius.

In essence, this decision prioritizes the well-being of students and staff, mitigating potential risks associated with plummeting temperatures. The government's proactive approach aims to ensure a conducive learning environment while safeguarding against the harsh cold wave gripping the region.
