Israeli Airstrike Eliminates Hezbollah Leader in Lebanon: Confirmed by Security Authorities

In a significant escalation, an Israeli airstrike targeted and killed a senior Hezbollah commander in southern Lebanon, as reported by a Lebanese security official on Monday. The incident has heightened tensions, fueling concerns of a broader conflict between Israel and the militant group. The strike underscores the ongoing volatility in the region.

As the clash between Israeli forces and Palestinian militants intensifies, medics, patients, and displaced individuals are fleeing Gaza's main hospital in the central region. Witnesses on Monday reported an exodus from the hospital, reflecting the perilous situation. Doctors Without Borders and other aid groups withdrew from Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, deeming it too hazardous, triggering panic among those seeking refuge.

The Israeli military, having concluded major operations in northern Gaza, now shifts focus to the central region and Khan Younis in the south. Officials anticipate the conflict's protraction for several months as the army aims to dismantle Hamas and recover hostages taken during an October 7 attack that instigated the war. The offensive has inflicted significant casualties, with over 22,000 Palestinians dead and vast devastation in Gaza, displacing 85% of its 2.3 million population.

Gaza's hospitals, already grappling with tens of thousands seeking shelter, face additional challenges in treating daily casualties from Israeli strikes. With only 13 of the 36 hospitals partially functioning, the strain on the healthcare system is evident. Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, targeted multiple times, prompts mass evacuation, concentrating patients on one floor for streamlined care.

Omar al-Darawi, an employee at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, laments the lack of special care for immobile patients. Amid Israeli forces advancing in central Gaza, the Health Ministry reported 73 bodies and 99 wounded arriving in the last 24 hours, underscoring the escalating human toll of the conflict.
