Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the Indian diaspora in Johannesburg, South Africa, as he arrived for the BRICS Summit.

In a video shared by news agency ANI, PM Modi can be seen engaging with diaspora members, some of whom even touched his feet as a mark of respect.

PM Modi's arrival at the Waterkloof Air Force Base was marked by a reception hosted by South Africa's Deputy President, Paul Mashatile.

He expressed his anticipation for the upcoming deliberations and meetings with world leaders during the BRICS Summit, a forum consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

From there, the Prime Minister made his way to the Sandton Sun Hotel, the chosen venue for the BRICS Summit. Prior to the BRICS Business Forum Leaders' Dialogue, he took the time to meet with members of the Indian diaspora who were present at the hotel.

One woman of Indian origin, in awe of the Prime Minister's presence, exclaimed, "It is an honor indeed to be in the presence of the Prime Minister. He is a wonderful man and my hero," speaking to news agency ANI.

During his visit, PM Modi is expected to visit a model of the impressive Swaminarayan Mandir, a temple that has been under construction since 2017 and is slated for completion next year. This temple, located in North Riding, north of Johannesburg, is designed similarly to one in Nairobi, Kenya, entirely constructed of stone, and will also feature classrooms and a clinic.
