In the late hours of March 28, two Indian naval vessels that had been dispatched to the Arabian Sea to carry out maritime security operations were diverted in order to capture a fishing vessel that had been abducted. Following intelligence regarding a potential pirate incident aboard an Iranian fishing boat, a decision was made.

At the time of the incident, the FV was approximately 90 nautical miles southwest of Socotra. Reports stated that nine armed pirates had boarded the ship. On March 29, the stolen FV was eventually found and recovered.

According to the statement, the Indian Navy is still dedicated to preserving both the safety of all seafarers and regional maritime security.
