In the latest development regarding the Rashmika Mandanna deepfake video scandal, Delhi Police has made headway by identifying four individuals connected to the dissemination of the video. Weeks post its viral spread on social media, these suspects were traced, albeit as uploaders and not the original creators.

According to the ANI news agency, Delhi Police is currently on the hunt for the primary conspirator behind the creation of the controversial deepfake video featuring Rashmika Mandanna. While the investigation is ongoing, the IFSO unit of Delhi Police has been actively interrogating multiple individuals associated with the case.

It's noteworthy that despite their progress in tracking down those responsible for uploading the video, Delhi Police is yet to apprehend the actual creators of the deepfake. The focus remains on interrogating those who shared and amplified its virality across various platforms.

Reports suggest that Delhi Police has received crucial leads from social media and Meta, aiding their ongoing investigation. Meta has provided insights concerning individuals who uploaded the video and subsequently deleted their online presence, contributing to the complexity of the case.

Earlier, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeiTY) issued advisories to social media platforms, emphasizing legal ramifications concerning deepfakes and their propagation. This advisory specifically referenced Section 66D of the Information Technology Act, 2000, highlighting penalties for cheating via personation using a computer resource.

Expressing her distress over the incident, Rashmika Mandanna shared her concerns about the misuse of technology, emphasizing the alarming vulnerability it poses to individuals. Meanwhile, professionally, Rashmika was last seen in the movie "Animal" alongside Ranbir Kapoor, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
