Amidst the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 season, Gujarat Giants encounter a major setback as their key player, Harleen Deol, sustains a severe knee injury, ruling her out for the remainder of the tournament. Reports indicate that her absence may heavily impact the team's performance in upcoming matches.

During the eighth match of the ongoing season against UP Warriorz, Harleen Deol, a prominent India batter representing Gujarat Giants, endured a left knee injury, necessitating her immediate withdrawal from the game under the assistance of the Giants' physiotherapist. Since then, the 25-year-old player has been sidelined from active participation in the league.

With Harleen Deol's unavailability, Gujarat Giants swiftly sought a replacement, eventually enlisting Vidarbha batter Bharti Fulmali to fill in the void. However, the absence of Deol, who struggled to find form this season with only 48 runs across three games, poses a significant challenge to the team's batting lineup.

Furthermore, Gujarat Giants face additional concerns regarding the fitness of their vice-captain, Sneh Rana, who missed the team's recent fixtures due to illness. Despite the setbacks, Giants anticipate Rana's return to the playing XI for the forthcoming match against Mumbai Indians, scheduled at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The absence of key players like Harleen Deol has contributed to Gujarat Giants' struggles in the WPL 2024 season, where they currently find themselves at the bottom of the points table. With just one win against Royal Challengers Bangalore, the team faces an uphill battle to improve its standing, especially given their poor net run rate (NRR) of -1.278.

Having commenced the season with a defeat against Mumbai Indians, followed by subsequent losses to RCB, UP Warriorz, and Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants aim to revitalize their campaign and overcome the challenges posed by injuries and form issues in the remaining matches of WPL 2024.
